Egg Carton Flowers

Piper and I did a really fun art project today. We made a flower picture using part of an egg carton. We first used the "flowers" for stamps, pained them with the paint brush, glued them on the paper and last drew some grass.

I got the inspiration for this craft from the blog Toddler Approved! You can check it out for yourself here.

13 Weeks/3 Months Old

Baby boy is 3 months old!

He is such a happy and sweet little guy.
He loves to cuddle.
He loves attention.
He has a lot to say.
This week we started hanging rings and balls from the back of his bouncy seat while he's laying on the floor. He loves batting them around and grabbing them.
He's growing so fast but I find it so hard to imagine life with out the little guy.
Here's a little video of Dex enjoying his bouncy seat.
Love him so much!!!

Happy Earth Day

Hope everyone had a fun Earth Day today. Piper was a bit under the weather so we spent a chunk of the morning lounging around in bed reading Earth Day books on my Nook. I asked her if she was up for doing an Earth Day art project and she said "Sure!"

We started by looking at pictures of the Earth on the computer and talked about what the green, blue and white colors were.
We gathered our materials,
-paper plate
-blue and green paint
-glue
-pulled apart cotton ball
-paint brushes/fingers
We started by painting the plate blue and green. I then was real brave and let her glue on the cotton ball clouds all on her own. She did a great job and liked the texture of the cotton balls.
Her Earth is currently hanging out our patio door window.

Polar Bear Polar Bear

During one of our recent trips to the Library I checked out the book Polar Bear, Polar Bear What do you Hear? I haven't gotten a chance to read it to her yet but I don't think that matters. She's pretty much has the story down pat other than the fact it's what do you hear and not what do you see.

Bath Scrunchie Painting

Today was super rainy all day and didn't let up until evening. Since we were stuck inside I knew it was necessary to do some sort of project after nap time today.

I had an extra bath scrunchie laying around and I asked Piper if she wanted to paint with it. She got really excited and told me it looked like a tutu. She had a lot of fun and she really liked the texture of the scrubby. I'm sure we'll use it for a project again real soon.
Here's the final product.

12 Weeks Old

Dexter turned 12 weeks old today! He's growing and changing so much!

He is loving looking at himself in the mirror.
He's sleeping through the night!!! YAY!!!
He started grabbing the toys and rings on his bouncy seat.
He started trying to reach for his toys on his blanket.
I had to giggle the other day when Piper put her baby next to Dexter. When he came home from the hospital Piper's baby seemed to be the same size as Dexter now he's twice as big.
Look at that hand eye coordination!

Paper Plate Owl

Piper was begging to do an art project this morning. I asked her what she wanted to do.

Her first idea was to paint with her ball again, but then she saw the googly eyes and feathers.

We decide it would be fun to make an owl. Here is the blog post where we got the inspiration for her owl craft. Her favorite part was gluing on all the feathers. The owl Piper made is currently hanging on the wall in her bed room.

Also here is a great post about crafting with kids. We recently organized our craft supplies and it has made our art projects so much easier!

Golf Ball Painting

Piper found a golf ball awhile ago and she loves throwing it. I'm so afraid that she's going to break a window one of these days!

I decided it would be fun to do a little painting project with her beloved golf ball. It's a great project, it's rather easy, there is usually a limited mess and it's fun to see the finished product!
Materials needed

 -ice cream pail
- paint
-golf ball

I've used this project in the past when I needed a sports themed craft. If you use a round sheet of paper, and orange paint it makes a perfect basket ball.

Piper got a little wild towards the end so we ended up putting the cover on the ice cream pail.  The project still turned out pretty cool!
