She's got a mind of her own.

I tried to get some 6 month pictures of Piper today. I got some great indoor shots, but I really wanted to get some cute out door pictures with the fall colors. It was the perfect day for photos, but I encountered a problem. Piper hated the leaves.
I thought I'd try again after her nap but she was not having it. I do have a plan B so we'll have to try that in a few days:)
Wish me luck!

Half a Year Old

I Can not believe that Piper is already a sixth month old. It's so odd I feel like this week she's really started to act and look like a sixth month old too.
She's rolling all over the place, She can almost sit on her own, she does this crazy pilates move so she can see whats going on, she babbles all the time, but she's still working on that first tooth. As you can see below she's also become an expert at eating rice cereal.

Piper turning 6 months old also marks a important milestone for both Piper and me. I've been nursing her now for 6 months. You may or may not know this but Piper and I got off to a very rocky start with breast feeding and I remember thinking learning to breast feed is way worse than giving birth. I'm still mad that nobody ever told me that, but we stuck with it and it has been so worth it. It meant a lot to me to try to at least breast feed her until she started solid foods. We've now reached that milestone and breastfeeding could not be going any better. Hopefully we'll make it another 6 months!!

Finding a New Normal

We are officially moved but I can't quite say we are officially settled. As of right now we are living in my parents basement in Mapleton. On the days that Josh works he is living in my aunt and uncles basement in Sioux Falls. We're praying that our house will sell fast, but in this market who know s what could happen. Piper is loving all the extra attention and is laughing all the time. I know that this transition time is not going to be easy but I also know that we're only doing this to better ourselves. I'm so looking forward to the time when our house in Portland is sold and we can all live together as a family in Sioux Falls. Until then I'm keeping my self busy cleaning out my old stuff, doing laundry, unpacking and trying to create some normalcy in our lives.

Leaving on a jet plane, Don't know when I'll be back again

I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that Piper and I are hopping on an air plane tomorrow and we're not coming back. Needless to say it's been an emotional last couple of days. There's been a little cold feet, and lots of goodbyes.
Yes goodbyes really suck!

I found this picture that was taken exactly 3 years ago today.

Yes that's Josh and I heading off on our big west coast adventure.
I would not give up these past three years for anything!

Last Day of Work

I went into work one last time today to turn in my keys and badge, eat a burrito and clean out my mail box.
It was hard...I really love my job and my co-workers!

I have to say of all things I'm going to miss most about Portland my job is one of the top things on the list. I just hope that the experience I gained working at the little community center above will help me eventually find a parks job in Sioux Falls:)

One Week From Today

I'll be in Minnesota.

It's so hard to believe that in only one week I'll be leaving this city I've fallen so in love with.
I know I'll be back someday!

I found this blog yesterday. I almost feel like it could be my blog, except she's traveled to Europe many times and that's still on my to do list.

There's still a ton of packing to do and one last stop into work but I know this next week is going to fly by!

End Of Summer

I took this photo on labor day 2 years ago during my project365.
Every time I look at it I get that feeling of days getting shorter and kids going back to school.

I always feel like the beginning of September is a time of transition and this year that couldn't be more true. Piper and I hop on a plane to head back to Minnesota next Tuesday. This time we won't have a round trip ticket. It's so hard to believe that our lives are about to change so much! I'm really excited about Josh, Piper and my future but at the same time I'm also anxious about what this next year will bring.

Yep She's Teething

Poor little thing.
The teething has officially started.

Piper and I hop on a plane in just two weeks to head back to Minnesota. What do you think the odds are that she'll be cutting a tooth on the flight?
