Happy Halloween!!!

As you can see Piper was a cow for her first Halloween. She trick-or-treated at two houses and she some how managed to fill up her whole trick-or-treat basket. She wasn't real wild about the hood on her costume but she kept it on for a good hour. Such a good little sport.

Today was also my dad's birthday. As you can see above he picked out a very morbid birthday cake, but when your 64 and have been working in the fields for the past two months you can do what ever you want.

Today was a wonderful day and such a good reminder why me made our big move back to the mid-west.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

SOLD!!!

Yep that's right our house is officially sold and Josh, Piper, and I are officially homeless. I can't believe how fast we sold our cute little Portland home. I have to say the selling process went a lot smoother then the buying process.

It is bitter sweet. I feel like our the Portland chapter in our life is officially over.
Now it's time to start the next chapter in our lives. I'm not real sure where we'll start. We're still going back and forth on buying vs renting. We're also thinking that we may wait until after the holidays to make any big moves. What I know for sure is that I'm looking forward to what ever the future brings.

Jack-O-Lantern

Halloween is one of my top all time favorite holidays. I love everything about it!!! Yesterday Josh and I carved our pumpkins. We were going to have a pumpkin carving contest but we liked each others jack-o-lanterns so much that we decided not to compete with each other. His is the one of the right and mine is the one on the left.

We also roasted pumpkin seeds.
A drizzle of olive oil, some salt, pepper, and garlic powder made for a yummy little snack!

Guess Who's 7 months old!

Piper turned 7 months old today. Josh and I can't get over how much she grew this last month.

She's just starting to sit on her own and she's so close to crawling it's crazy. I'm afraid to take my eyes off her when she's on the floor playing just in case she does a new trick.

She has learned some pretty awesome tricks lately. She's started saying mama, she started waving and she's figured out how to drink out of a straw.

She's such a big girl!!!

Lots and lots of family time!!!

I've been really home sick for Portland lately.
The last few days have been great homesickness therapy and they have reminded me the reason for moving back to the Mid-west.

We got to go to the park with Gammy.

Piper got to try on her Halloween costume for her cousins.

Piper got to spend time with her Great Grandparents.

We visited Grandpa Ron on the farm. (Don't worry Ron's not sick, he's just covered in corn dust)

Family is so important to me and the fact that we are so close to so many people that we love make the whole move worth it.

First trip to the Park

Josh and I went out for a walk today and on our way past the park I made note that Piper was almost old enough to swing. Josh thought that we should try it out today.
Even though it may not look like it she did have fun.
Her little serious face cracks me up!

Good Little Eater

About a month ago we started introducing solid foods to Piper. It has been so much more fun then I could have ever imagined. I've been making her food for her and for the most part she loves it. I decided to photo document Piper's lunch today. I made her sweet potatoes with hidden peas.

As you can see she's loving eating real food!

Pursuing My Passion

Many of you who read this blog may know how much I love to take pictures. Shortly before getting married and getting pregnant I had started to get serious about pursuing photography as more then just a hobby. Since having Piper and moving from apartment to house, and then house to parents basement my picture taking started to decrease. I'm now back in the mid-west and have a little extra time on my hands so I've decided to start building my personal photograph portfolio and my stock portfolio.

I had my first official photo shoot yesterday with a former co-worker's little girl. It was so much fun!!! I'm hoping I can find more people who want their photos taken by me because It's really something I enjoy doing.

Here are a few photos from yesterday.

Quick trip to Falls Park

Piper and I headed over to Sioux Falls this weekend to spend time with Josh while he was on call at work. It was so nice to all be together so we decided to head to Falls Park and go for a little walk. The picture above is the only picture I took because 5 min into our little walk Josh got called into work.

It will be so nice when Josh won't have to commute back and forth between Mapleton and Sioux Falls but until then we'll try to enjoy our moments together as much as possible.

I Love October!

As much as I loved the mild falls in Portland nothing can compare to harvest time in the Midwest.

Josh, Piper, and I were able to meet up with his family this weekend at Emma Krumbees.
We has so much fun eating apples, taking pictures, and picking out pumpkins.

Autumn is so much fun!

6 month appointment

Piper had her 6 month appointment yesterday. The stats prove that she's still just a little peanut.

13.8 lbs (20th percentile)
26.5 inches long (50th percentile)
I don't remember what her head circumference was but it was small.

I have to say I always laugh when people say "oh 6 months is such a fun age" but it really is a fun age!
