Half a Year Old

I Can not believe that Piper is already a sixth month old. It's so odd I feel like this week she's really started to act and look like a sixth month old too.
She's rolling all over the place, She can almost sit on her own, she does this crazy pilates move so she can see whats going on, she babbles all the time, but she's still working on that first tooth. As you can see below she's also become an expert at eating rice cereal.

Piper turning 6 months old also marks a important milestone for both Piper and me. I've been nursing her now for 6 months. You may or may not know this but Piper and I got off to a very rocky start with breast feeding and I remember thinking learning to breast feed is way worse than giving birth. I'm still mad that nobody ever told me that, but we stuck with it and it has been so worth it. It meant a lot to me to try to at least breast feed her until she started solid foods. We've now reached that milestone and breastfeeding could not be going any better. Hopefully we'll make it another 6 months!!

  1. Good for you Annie! It does suck that everyone just seems to assume that nursing will go swimmingly for everyone. I had 3 weeks straight of hell with nursing Harper at the beginning. She had a super strong latch and I endured extreme pain every time she latched on with cracked and bleeding sucked big time. Then just suddenly one day everything turned around and she nursed until she self weaned at 10 months. Guthrie would still be nursing if I'd let her but we stopped at 16 months and I feel super great for giving her that for a long time. So good for you! Any amount of time is great in my eyes!

  2. Thanks Ashley, I had a very similar story as Harper. I ended up getting mastitis twice with in the first 2 weeks after she was born. The first time I was able to get rid of it on my own but the second bout my temp got up to 104 and it took 3 days to get it back to normal. Looking back I think that anyone in there right mind would have quit nursing after something like that. I had the postpartum crazies and was bound and determined to keep going. I'm so glad I stuck with it though!
