Missing Portland

Sometimes I miss Portland so bad it hurts. Yesterday I saw this blog post of a walk in my old neighborhood. You can actually see my old apartment in the last photo. Things like that give me little twinges of homesickness.

But then I realize my family is so close...
and they can stop by for a quick visit every now and then. That always seems to make the homesickness go away.

I was 37 weeks pregnant and hiking in Washington Park.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the last 12 months and how much has happened.
It's really overwhelming.

I asked Josh the other day where do you think we'll be a year from now. His response was "Here". I sure hope he's right. You never know what the future is going to bring but I'm really happy with the present.

Oh Top of Mt Hood

Josh's sister came to visit us last weekend. We had so much fun having her here. We were able to hit up some of our favorite places one last time like Laurelwood, Porque No? and The Waffle Window.

On Saturday we took Kristi somewhere we had never been before. We headed up Mt. Hood to have brunch at Timberline Lodge.

For one thing it was the best buffet I have ever had! Also Timberline Lodge was so cool. It was pretty cold and rainy up there but the scenery was amazing. I'm still wondering why we waited so long to take a trip to the mountain.

Where do you go when you can't go home?

Today was our open house to sell our home. Josh was out of town so Piper and I had a few hours to kill on our own. We headed down to the Pearl District. I haven't been downtown forever and when ever I head that way I realize how much I miss living there.

We went to Noodles for lunch and scored a free meal. The register wasn't working and they forgot to give me my salad so they comped my meal! How awesome is that!

After lunch we headed over to Powell's. I had a stack of books I wanted to sell and Piper had a $20.00 gift card to use. With my assistance I'd say she picked out some pretty great books. We're both pretty crazy about Are You My Mother. It's interactive!

We then went for a little walk around town. Days like today make me realize how much I'm really going to miss Portland. I'm so happy that I've had 3 wonderful years here. I'm just so lucky that I've been able to live in such an awesome city!!

Breakfast Special

Piper was up at 2am this morning. She wasn't hungry and she wasn't happy either. Josh had an early morning flight to take so that meant I had to figure out how to get her back to sleep. I could tell by her wide eyes that this could take a while. We headed out to the living room to cuddle. Lucky for me there was a really fun program on PBS about breakfasts.
You can check it out here!

Once again PBS came to my rescue on a sleepless night!

River Walk

Between me going back to work and it being our anniversary weekend we were all in need of a family day. We hopped on the MAX and headed downtown for a walk around the Willamette.

It was such a beautiful day!!!! After our trip around the River Walk we stopped and got ice cream cones.

We also manage to find some time to just sit, relax and people watch by the river.

It was fun to take time and enjoy each other and the city we live in!

Picnic at Mt Tabor

We took Piper on her first picnic today. We are so fortunate to have so many beautiful parks here in Portland so that means so many wonderful places to picnic. Today was gorgeous so we headed to Mt Tabor. We had a fun day and she was such a good little girl. We even made time for ice cream on Hawthorn st.

Just one of the many reasons bulldogs are the coolest dogs in the world.

All worn out from her first picnic.

Home Stretch

Only one week until my baby is due. I like most women who are 39 weeks pregnant am so ready. I've been experiencing a ton of braxton hicks contractions with a painful contraction here and there but nothing consistent yet.

I spent my day trying to stay as busy as possible to keep my mind off the events that will be taking place in the next few weeks. This morning Josh and I went over to the Walmart on 82 ave. I had the baby's changing table sent to directly to the store. I saved $60 on shipping! Josh wished we would have brought our camera because we could have contributed to this web sight. Speaking of Walmart this is what happened at the Walmart in my hometown this week.

Tonight I was able to meet up with one of my high school friends. We went and had milkshakes at Moonstruck on NW 23rd.

I plan on staying put in my apartment for the rest of the weekend. I've been occupying myself with reading the Harry Potter books and watching the Harry Potter movies.

Stay tuned for any baby news!

Another Beautiful Weekend

Once again we are having a beautiful Saturday here in Portland. Josh and I were antsy this weekend. Not only are we due to have a baby in just three weeks we also just bought a house and are planning on moving this week. We both decided that we needed to get out and enjoy the weather today. We went for a very slow walk/hike in Washington Park. There were so many happy people and families out having fun in the park today!

37 weeks!

I promise to keep you all posted on how the move goes. I'll also post some pictures of our new little home real soon!

Wonderful Weather makes for a Wonderful Weekend!

35 week baby belly!

The weather has been amazing here in Portland. Saturday I was recovering from a migraine and Josh got home from a trip and wasn't feel all that great. We both spent the day laying around trying to feel better. I knew that today may be one of the last nice days we have here for a while. It was also one of the first days Josh and I both had a day off together in months. We took full advantage!

We went to Washington Park and took some photos.

We went to Hawthorn to get some Cold Stone ice cream.

We skyped with my parents and heard all about the recent trip to Hawaii.

We had a wonderful sit down dinner together.

I love getting to spend time with my Hubby. It was a great day and a beautiful weekend!

2 Year Portland Anniversary!

It's so hard to believe that I've been living in Portland Oregon for 2 years now. Josh and I arrived in Portland around 5 in the afternoon 2 years ago. I look back and it's so hard to believe how much I've changed in the last 2 years. I have so much more confidence and so much more drive then when I first moved here. I also am a Mrs. and soon to be mom! Life couldn't be better.
Oregon! I love you!

Still feels like summer to me!

It was an amazing beautiful day today! I went for a stroll down NW 23rd. I stopped at the new M.A.C store. Yep there's a M.A.C on 23rd! I picked up some studio fix powder. I also grabbed some new eye liner too. I picked out fly-by-blu..very fun!

I also swung by Escape from New York and grabbed a slice of pizza. Yummy.

Days like today it's hard to believe the rain is right around the corner!

Last day of summer

To me Labor Day always seems to mark the end of summer and the beginning of fall. I had a pretty awesome summer and it all seemed to catch up with me this last weekend. I spent most of my four day weekend curled up on the couch with a pretty icky cold. Luckily this morning I woke up and was able to breath out of my nose. Josh and I decided we needed to get out of the apartment and do something so we headed down to the Fine Arts Festival in the Pearl. Josh was a pretty good sport...it was super busy and hard to get around. He also doesn't really get fine art. He complained a little but let me enjoy myself. Next year though I think I'll leave him at home ;)

We also stopped by Cargo on the walk home. If your ever in downtown Portland take a little stop at Cargo...it's a pretty fun store.

Tomorrow is back to work and it's the first day of my after school program for the year. I love the kids that are in the program and I can't wait to see them all tomorrow.

It's time to welcome fall with big wide open arms! Yay! I can't wait for the new colors, the cool weather, rainy days, football, and the pumpkin patches!

Bruno

Josh and I went to see the movie Bruno at the Laurelhurst Theater today. We knew going that it was going to be all about shock factor. I have to say Sacha Baron Cohen out did himself this time. He even managed to make Josh uncomfortable. We were definitely entertained but I have to say you better be in the right mood to see this one.

Happy Saturday!

I had a wonderful little day!

I finally got a library card...no more buying books for me. We have such a wonderful little library right down the street why wouldn't I utilize it?!

Josh made a great pasta dish for dinner with chicken and capers. He also surprised me by baking an apple pie...so yummy.

I finished up watching this. So funny!
